MBTI is the tool to understand your personality type, based on the theories of Carl Jung. To grow your self-awareness that helps you to better work, communicate and live wth the others. Last time I’ve found that there is another great application of MBTI. It can help you to find a life mentor. Or even many of them, if you only want!
Note: if you already know your MBTI type, just jump to Step 2.
Basics – what these four letters means?
MBTI understanding is about getting to know the four letters. But not these: “M”, “B”, “T” and “I”, but other – such like ESTJ, INTP, ENFP, ISFP etc.
There are 4 basic dichotomies, in which you have to choose your preferences, to understand his personality type. And each choice is described by a one letter.
Following the source there are such definitions of each choices and dichotomies:
Favorite world: Do you prefer to focus on the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I).
Information: Do you prefer to focus on the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N).
Decisions: When making decisions, do you prefer to first look at logic and consistency or first look at the people and special circumstances? This is called Thinking (T) or Feeling (F).
Structure: In dealing with the outside world, do you prefer to get things decided or do you prefer to stay open to new information and options? This is called Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).
Now you can clearly that your four letters are taken directly from the description above.
Step 1. Understand your personality type
There are probably two easiest ways to understand which “four letters” are yours. You can make it using the tools directly from MBTI authors for 49$ or to make it not from the authors directly, but in a good enough quality and for free.
Effect will be understanding your own type.
So, which one you have?
Step 2. Find your like-minded mentor(s)
The next step is even easier. Now, knowing your type, just jump to celebritytypes.com and click on the “four letters” type page, to see celebrities having same type as you have.
I am an INFJ so I just clicked here. And what I found? People like Plato, Mahatma Gandhi or Lars von Trier. On the other hand – with the same type – Adolf Hitler and Osama bin Laden.
They are all the greatest possible examples. People who think and act naturally similar to me. But at the same time they are very different. The first of them are ones who use their type for a great service for the others, to make incredible and valuable things. Two last ones made something big as well, but totally bad and focused on bad principles.
They like-minded “celebrities” are great teachers of what to do and what NOT to do. Great, because much of what they were facing with, I’m facing with today. Nevertheless it is about finding a meaningfulness in everything I do, making things in a way that change people lives as well as coping with creating many ideas, while having only limited time to realise them.
Not all movies, books or speeches convince and influence me. But the ones from my INFJ-like mentors make it in a highest possible level. That’s why now I know from who I can learn in the best possible way.
